One of the most popular hikes is up to Hundhammerfjellet on the Abelvær peninsula, where wind turbines mark the summit and panoramic views stretch out over the whole of Ytre Namdal. On a clear day you can see a sea of islands, fjords and coastline in every direction. The hike is suitable for most people and delivers a natural experience you will not soon forget. For cyclists, the coastal paths along County Roads 769 and 770 are classics, with varied terrain and spectacular scenery throughout. 

If fishing is your thing, you have come to the right place. The waters around Nærøysund are well known for excellent sea fishing, and the Namsen River – just an hour's drive inland – is considered by many anglers to be one of the best salmon rivers in Europe. Whatever you are looking for, nature here is generous.
